Beautiful: The Carole King Musical Opens in Australia Sept. 2017
The Tony Award winning musical Beautiful: The Carole King Musical will make its widely anticipated Australian premiere in September at Syndey's Lyric Theater.
Australian producer Michael Cassel commented, "This show is simply 'some kind of wonderful.' I am very excited to bring this sensational show to Australian shores. Carole King might be a native New Yorker but her music is loved the world over and her story is universal. She wrote the soundtrack to a generation and I can't wait for Australian audiences to experience this smash-hit production in Sydney."
The creative team for the Australian production of Beautiful includes Derek McLance (set design), Alejo Vietti (costume design), Peter Kaczorowki (lighting design) and Brian Ronan (sound design).
Joining Esther Hannaford as 'Carole King' are Green Room Award winner Josh Piterman as 'Gerry Goffin', accomplished musical theater star Amy Lehpamer as 'Cynthia Weil', singer songwriter and The Voice Australia favorite Mat Verevis as 'Barry Mann', along with stage veterans Mike McLeish as 'Don Kirshner' and Anne Wood as Carole's mother 'Genie Klein'.
The cast also includes Jason Arrow, Stefanie Caccamo, Doron Chester, Barry Conrad, Andrew Cook, Marcus Corowa, Julia Dray, Akina Edmonds, Nana Matapule, Cameron MacDonald, Lorinda Merrypor, Joseph Naim, Ruvarashe Ngwenya, Naomi Price, Rebecca Selley, Sean Sinclair, Angelina Thomson and Chloe' Zuel.
Carole King commented in a press statement, "I'm thrilled to see it travel across the world to Australia, where I hope audiences down under will treasure it as much as I do."
